reflections 02-18-04

got home earlier afternoon around 1pm MNL time.. tired from a nights work and a day job, workin on a design project and sat in my room browsin through and old song book lyin on top of my bed... (in actuality.. so many stuff are in fact on top of my bed, mostly books and notes and sketches)... fell asleep and woke up with a certain page facing me... t'was early evening and i gotta hit work... another day (night) at the office... stood up and couldnt help but notice the page.. read it and it said :

"the past" - ray parker

I was wrong when I hurt you
But did you have to hurt me too
Did you think revenge will make it better?
I don't care about the past
I just want our love to last
There's a way to bring us back together

I must forgive you
You must forgive me too
If you wanna try to put things back the way they used to be
'Cause there's no sense in going over and over
The same things as before
So let's not bring the past back anymore

Out of all the good we had
You only keep track of the bad
Though you knew I never really loved her
Didn't anyone tell you yet
That to forgive is to forget
How can you be mad if you don't remember

I must forgive you
And you must forgive me too
It's the only thing that's left that we haven't tried to do
One thing I'm sure will work
That we haven't tried before
Let's not bring the past back anymore

...sat there for a while thinkin to myself... how pleasant would everything be if only we'd learn the essence of forgiveness... to put ourselves in the other person's shoes and ask our selves if it hurts... coz most probably the other person would feel the same thing... this aint a revelation... this is common knowledge.. yet somehow.. in our everyday routine.. we forget.. we tend not to see, not to notice, not to be aware of this basic rule...

i aint no preacher with great words to pull people into awe... i simply am being me... being quiet and listening to what our humanity tellsus...

saw the movie K-Pax... was struck by a statement there: "how do we know right from wrong if there are no laws governing it?" : -- answer... every being in the universe is aware of what right or wrong is... despite the different ideologies and concepts... it will always be -- to look at thyself in place of others and act accordingly...

how many of us have fallen victim to circumstancial situations that force us to be not the person we ought to be -- the good person that we are... and end up being hated.. being judged for simply being human enough to react in a certain fallible way... but you know what the saving grace is about... it's about learning from the situation.. it's about growing from it and continue to "become"...

alas, here i am again... facing the same pc i faced yesterday, a month ago, a year ago perhaps... what ever changes happened.. i am still, constantly learning... adapting to change... simply becoming...
