thoughts on planning and change

how do we motivate people to perform well... i was
suppose to be lying asleep when a thought came to
me... most of us acknowledge only outputs in what
we do... we praise results... what is wrong with that?
nothing i guess, however, is it our nature as human
beings to only see the end means and not the
process in between...

sometimes, we plan on things... we lay down steps
as if trying to box up life within a series of
parameters that can be controlled... we need to feel
secure thinking that things will go "as planned"...

i've been in the architectural profession for almost 10
years now, drawing up plans and seeing them
through... i have yet to encounter the perfect plan..
no deviation, no unforseen events, no fluctuations...
life as it seems is full of change and erratic scenarios,
and whatever we plan, however way we count on
things to be as straight as we want it to be... the
road is always curving... what do we do then?
we allow for change... we cope, we adapt, conform
to the situation...

people have the tendency to express their thoughts
in what they see in others... the lack or excess there
of... yet often times, forget to mirror what they see
within themselves as a yardstick by which to guage
judgement...

when things are in constant change, let us not forget
to allow for it and to mirror ourselves in every
situation... the human race is a complex web... the
intricacies between two people can be simpler if we
learn to cut each other slack and see ourselves in
how others do things...

after all, planning is the act of preparing for and
readying oneself to adapt to change in moving
forward together...
